“RusHydro” will consider the localization in Russia of the production of wind turbines for the Arctic

RusHydro will consider the possibility of localizing wind turbines in the Russian Federation for the Arctic territories, said the company’s head Nikolai Shulginov during the annual shareholders’ meeting.

“As far as wind energy is concerned, it is also effectively developing it in the coastal regions of Yakutia, Kamchatka, Sakhalin Oblast, and we are doing this, including by involving Japanese companies. Today we have a good project for Tiksi, along the coast, next year we will try to build new windmills in Arctic, because the former ones could not stand the conditions of the Arctic. If we manage to do this, then we will try to localize the production of wind turbines on the territory of the Russian Federation for such regions, with Arctic conditions, “Shulginov said, PRIME reports.

According to him, for today RusHydro operates 16 solar power stations and three wind farms, mainly in isolated areas of the Far East.
